About Marta Blaze:
For 15 years while owning Crossfit Pickering, I coached our athletes during their nutrition and fitness journey. I empowered our clients with Nutrition education, challenges, Fat loss and muscle gain resources and ongoing nutrition recommendations. I am now Precision Nutrition Certified and proud to be continuing helping our clients achieve healthy relationships with food.
I believe in looking at the whole individual and working together to achieve deep health.
My love for nutrition started way before that. In my 20s, I was already knee deep in researching and testing nutrition practices on myself. Over the past 30 years, I have tried many ways of eating to try the one that would suit me best.
I became Macrobiotic in my early 20s, then I was a pescatarian for many years. I found I wasn’t getting enough iron on that way of eating. 15 years ago I did the Paleo diet which resonated with me and made sense. My hormone doctor put me on the Ketogenic diet 10 years ago. It was successful for a time but once I decided to stop doing Keto, my peri Menopausal body rebelled and I started gaining weight.
I also started doing intermittent fasting about 7 years ago and I did enjoy that way of eating, although now I just do time restricted eating – I don’t eat anything after dinner until breakfast. As you can see, I’ve pretty much done it all. Some with great success, some with less success. My favourite way of eating right now is to have lots of protein, vegetables, some fats, nuts and seeds. I find that the most important thing is to find a way of eating that suits your needs, experiment if need be but really try to find a way of eating that is sustainable and easy for you. There is no “Best Diet”, there is only a way of eating that you will stick to. Most of all, be kind to yourself and your body.
In 1999 I studied with Dominion Herbal College but decided that I didn’t want to pursue an Herbalist profession but have used my knowledge in Herbalism for myself, my family and my friends. My passion for my clients, health and wellness led me to become a Pilates Instructor over 20 years ago and a Crossfit coach 16 years ago.
